Dollywood isn't just a theme park. It's a celebration of Appalachian culture wrapped in world class entertainment. Co owned by the legendary Dolly Parton, the park combines thrilling rides, live music, traditional crafts, and genuine Southern hospitality in a way that feels uniquely authentic. Whether you're a coaster enthusiast, a music lover, or just looking for family fun, Dollywood delivers an experience you won't find anywhere else.
Top Thrill Rides
Dollywood has evolved into one of the premier thrill ride destinations in the country. Here are the rides coaster enthusiasts come for:
Wild Eagle
America's first wing coaster, where riders sit with nothing above or below them. At 21 stories tall, you'll soar over the park with incredible views before plunging through inversions and near misses.
Lightning Rod
When it opened, this was the world's fastest wooden coaster. The launch acceleration is intense, and the airtime hills deliver genuine weightlessness. A bucket list ride for coaster fans.
Thunderhead
Consistently ranked among the best wooden coasters anywhere, Thunderhead flies through the trees with non stop action. The pacing is relentless from start to finish.
Big Bear Mountain
Opened in 2023, this family launched coaster takes you on an adventure through the Smokies with indoor and outdoor sections, tunnels, and stunning views. Perfect for families with kids who aren't quite ready for the big coasters.

Beyond the Rides
Live Entertainment
Music fills every corner of Dollywood. From bluegrass bands to gospel choirs to full scale productions, you'll find performances throughout the day. The shows range from intimate acoustic sets in small venues to elaborate stage productions with professional casts. During festivals, the entertainment lineup expands significantly.
Traditional Crafts
Throughout the park, you'll find working artisans demonstrating traditional Appalachian crafts. Watch blacksmiths shape iron, glassblowers create delicate works, leather workers craft goods by hand, and woodworkers turn bowls on antique lathes. Many items are available for purchase, and the craftspeople love to explain their techniques.
Food
Dollywood's food goes way beyond typical theme park fare. The Grist Mill makes cinnamon bread that draws long lines (worth it). The Front Porch Cafe serves excellent Southern cooking. And seasonal festivals bring special culinary events with guest chefs.
Cinnamon Bread Tip
Get to the Grist Mill when the park opens. The line for fresh cinnamon bread gets very long by mid morning. It's worth arriving early for warm bread straight from the oven.
