Table of Contents. Autumn's GLOW at The Island
Autumn's GLOW is The Island's brand-new fall celebration in Pigeon Forge. It pairs Smokies fall color with nighttime light-and-water shows, photo spots, and fall food and shopping. You can stroll the grounds for free. That is the point. No gate ticket, no parking fee, and an easy evening drive from our Gatlinburg cabins.
This is The Island's newest seasonal experience, also framed as "Autumn in the Smokies" and "Fall in Love with Autumn's GLOW." It runs September 21 through November 15, 2026, which is later than Dollywood Harvest, the Craftsmen's Fair, and Anakeesta Bear-Varian. Book the cabin on this site. Walk The Island for free.
What Autumn's GLOW is
Think of it as a first-year seasonal overlay on a place guests already know. The Island stays free to enter. The new layer is harvest lighting, floating maple leaf lanterns, a fall fountain production, and a busy Halloween Night. It is the evening we send families who already spent the day on a color drive or at Dollywood and still want one more outing without buying another park ticket.
The rest of the autumn calendar (Bear-Varian, Ober Oktoberfest, Craftsmen's Fair, Dollywood Harvest, foliage by elevation) is on our fall events in Gatlinburg 2026 hub. The evergreen walk-through of shops, dining, and the Wheel is on our Island in Pigeon Forge guide.
The fountain and the maple leaf lanterns
The headline show is the Island Show Fountain debut of "Autumn's GLOW: A Symphony of Light." It is set to a fall soundtrack. Custom floating maple leaf lanterns glow on the water while the jets run. That is the photo guests come back for, and it is free to watch from the boardwalk.
The official fall page does not list nightly show times for Autumn's GLOW. We are not guessing hours. Go after sunset if the lanterns are the reason you drove down. Recheck The Island's official fall page the week you travel if you need a clock time.

Check AvailabilityHarvest lights on the 200-foot Wheel
The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel adds harvest-themed light shows for the run. Ride by day for foliage views from the enclosed gondolas. Ride again after dark to look down on the lanterns. The Wheel is paid. The official Island site lists $3 off online. Check that site for the current ride price. Walking the grounds stays free.
Halloween Night, Saturday, October 31
Halloween Night is the signature date left on the calendar. Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026. This is the busiest evening of the run. If you want a quieter stroll, pick a weeknight instead and keep Halloween for the candy and costumes.
- 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.: free trick-or-treating at participating Island shops.
- 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.: Halloween dance party with DJ Corey in the Margaritaville Restaurant courtyard.
- 9:00 p.m.: community costume contest, with age groups and prizes.
- Halloween light shows on the Wheel, plus Halloween fountain productions at the bottom of every hour that night.
Those Halloween hours come from The Island's official Halloween page. They are for October 31 only. Do not treat them as nightly Autumn's GLOW show times.
Fall flavors and shopping
The Island layers seasonal food and merch on top of the usual shops. Verified for this run:
- Ole Smoky Moonshine autumn flavors and fall merch.
- Starbucks seasonal drinks.
- Beef Jerky and Peanut Butter Experience "Bigfoot Bait Jerky."
- Build-A-Bear Halloween plushies.
- The new Squish Store.
None of that requires a ticket. Buy what you want, skip what you do not, and still get the lanterns.

Nearby pairings
- Dollywood Harvest by day, then Island lights at night, through October 31. Do not try to stack both after dark.
- A Foothills Parkway or Wears Valley color drive in the afternoon, dinner at The Island, lanterns after sunset.
- Our cabins near Dollywood explainer if Pigeon Forge drive time is the only question you have.
- The evergreen Island attraction guide for shops, dining, and the Wheel on a non-festival day.
Which cabin to book
A cabin with a kitchen and a hot tub is the quiet half of this trip. Skip Parkway hotel noise, drive back up the mountain, and still be close enough for a second night out. Autumn's GLOW runs to November 15, right as Winterfest lights start, so a mid-November stay still has a reason to go out after dark.
- Serenity if you want the quietest house after a busy Island evening.
- Dream Big or Million Dollar View for one family of 8 that wants a deck and a hot tub after the lanterns.
- Funky Bear Lodge or Big Sky Lodge for a reunion or celebration crew that wants a theater after Halloween Night.
Tips from the cabin
Local tip
Go after sunset for the lanterns. Weeknights are calmer than Saturdays. Halloween Night will be the busiest evening of the run. Bring a light jacket. Mid-November nights get cold.
Grocery stop on the way in. Dinner at the cabin or at The Island. Lights after dark. Hot tub when you get back. That is the evening that works. Book the cabin first on this site, then pick your Island night.
